AUDIOLOGISTS’ DR. JESSICA FRANKEL & DR. SHELLEY BORGIA DEVELOP HURRICANE SANDY HEARING INITIATIVE PROGRAM

Hurricane Sandy has devastated many lives. New York City Hearing Associates, PLLC, located in Midtown, NYC was also affected. Dr. Shelley Borgia sustained property damage and is temporarily displaced. “We are here to support you. We have teamed up with numerous manufacturers to replace or repair your hearing aids if they have incurred damage from Hurricane Sandy,” says Dr. Jessica Frankel. New York City Hearing Associates can answer any questions and concerns about the Hurricane Sandy Hearing Initiative program. Insurance may not cover replacing or repairing hearing aids. In addition, some local hearing care offices and hospitals throughout New York and New Jersey are temporarily closed. Patients may find it difficult to find hearing care during this recovery period. NYC Hearing Associates’ offices are easily accessible by public transportation near Penn Station, Grand Central Station, Port Authority, and the PATH train. NYC Hearing Associates is donating professional services to individuals affected by the Hurricane. “Hearing loss can exasperate a stressful environment. Hearing devices can help alleviate stress and will increase communication to strive towards normalcy,” says Dr. Shelley Borgia.

New York City Hearing Associates has recently visited Lincoln Place, Massapequa to spread cheer and fill fellow New Yorkers’ cups with coffee and tea. Massapequa is a town on the south shore of Long Island that was affected by the surge of water, flooding homes and vehicles, creating devastation across the area. These residents will not be home for the holidays. They have lost homes, medical equipment, such as sleep apnea breathing machines, belongings, and memories. New York City Hearing Associates will continue to support Hurricane Sandy victims as they rebuild their lives.
