Simplifying the Search for an Audiologist in NYC

March 17, 2024

When choosing an audiologist in NYC, nobody would be surprised to hear that you’re looking for the best. The city is a world leader in many fields, so, unsurprisingly, there’s a top-notch medical community, too. Two out of Newsweek’s top ten hospitals in the world are located right here in New York.

The right hearing care solutions can be life-changing. Finding the best team of audiologist doctors is your first step on any hearing journey. At NYC Hearing Associates, we have assembled just such a team to give you the premium care you deserve. Each specialist who works here is not just highly qualified – they’re passionate, too.

Unpacking Audiology Qualifications

You might have noticed that our audiologists have quite a collection of qualifications behind their names. If you’re not in the field, you might have a hard time telling your AuD from your FAAA, which can make it challenging to choose the right specialist. Fortunately, it’s not too difficult to decode what each qualification means. Let’s unpack each one briefly.

Doctor of Audiology

Perhaps the most important qualification is the AuD or Doctor of Audiology. This is the usual entry point into the career. This four-year degree encompasses both the theory and practice of audiology. It provides solid expertise in diagnosing and treating hearing, balance, and related disorders. Before the AuD became the standard, audiologists would qualify with an MA (Master of Arts) or MS (Master of Science) degree.
